about us
The Raging Skillet a brief biography The Raging Skillet, call Chef Rossi
Thanks for taking an
interest in the wildest catering company this side of the Mason
Dixon Line.
Although a lot of people who are just
discovering the eclectic, multi-cultural fare of "The Raging
Skillet" think we are the new caterer on the block, we've actually
been in NYC, catering non-traditional weddings, pirate feasts,
international soirees and Christmas by way of The Philippines holiday
bashes for over 20 years! .
We've generally been known
as the best kept secret amongst our clients. That secret seems
to be leaking out these days, which is really quite
wonderful.
The Raging Skillet is a recommended caterer
at 632 On Hudson, NY Hall of Science, The Tobacco Ware-house, The Prospect Park Picnic House, The Bell House in Brooklyn, Landmark On The Park, The Divine Studio in NOHO, The Foundry in Long Island City, The Seaman's Church Institute, The Angel Orensanz Foundation, The NYC Fire Museum, Galapagos Art Space, The Smack Mellon Gallery in Dumbo, Ramscale Studios, and The Metropolitan Building
..
We are perhaps...most known as the
anti-caterer; everything is personalized down to the menu,
attire of the staff- do you want them in Japanese jackets, tuxes or
mini-skirts?- and style of service- tired of old fashioned sit-downs, try family style, table-side French Service or Chef Rossi's personal fave; the Floating Supper.
Our
food reflects fusions from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cuba, South Carolina, New Orleans, Morocco,
Jamaica, India, The South-West, Vegan, Vegetarian and Rossi's mother's Hungarian Yiddish
home-cooking. Slovenian Chef Miha Juric joined the team in 2003, adding Central European cooking to the mix!
The Raging Skillet wait-staff are all seasoned veterans who
love what they do and are not tapping their toes waiting for that
next audition.
The Raging Skillet was the official caterer for
"V'Day"- considered to be the biggest thing in the
women's movement since the burning of the bra- at which female
celebrities from Glenn Close to Susan Sarandon to Whoopie Goldberg
performed for an audience of thousands to end violence against
women.
We have been "The Manhattan User's Guide" pick for Best NYC Caterers, chosen by "New York Magazine" as one of their
"Hottest Caterers of New York," chosen 10 years running by "New York Wedding" as best wedding caterer, featured on "The Food
Network", and called "eclectic, ethnic and off the wall" by the
"Zagat Survey" who gave The Raging Skillet their highest rating and written up as "The Rebel Anti-Caterer" by "The
New York Times.".

about Chef
Rossi
Rossi -- known professionally as Chef Rossi --
is one of the New York catering world's most vivacious personalities.
She has been whisking up international fusions and mad theme parties
for over 20 years!.
As the catering director, owner and
executive chef of "The Raging Skillet", a cutting-edge catering
company known for breaking any and all rules, she has earned a
reputation as the one to call when it's time to do something
different.
When not cooking up a storm, Rossi has written for several major newspapers and publictions, such as "The Daily News,"
"The Black Book,""Time Out New York" and "The New York Post" to name a few. She been the regular host
of a radio food show on "WJFF" and a featured guest on The
Food Network. Currently Rossi hosts her own show on "WOMR" radio on Cape Cod called "Bite This" and has been the food columnist for "Bust" magazine for the past six years.
"I like to think of myself as the anti-chef,"
says Rossi, "no pretension, no complicated recipes, just fun, fast
and fabulous food." New York Magazine agreed when they voted Rossi
one of the hottest caterers in New York.
Rossi, who credits
America as her home town, grew up in a camper wedged on the top of a
Ford pick-up truck and had visited all of the United States -- except
for Hawaii and Alaska -- by the time she was 10 years old. Her wacky
sense of humor and international food fusions reflect her Hungarian
Yiddish background and her love of all things hot and
spicy.
"I think I was the only kid in high-school who
had a Yiddish/ Jersey/ Southern accent", says Rossi... "and a
passion for Tandoori Chicken."
